How We Approach Institutional Investment

OUR APPROACH
Only our clients compensate us, which means we place a focus on the best low-cost portfolio that aligns with each client's specific needs. We do not offer proprietary investments, and we never earn a commission on investments we use.
Our Deep-Dive Planning Process Includes:
- Compliance & governance: Investment Policy Statement (IPS) creation, conflict controls, and committee-ready materials.
- Portfolio construction: strategic asset allocation, liability alignment, and diversification across equities, fixed income, and alternatives.
- Manager selection: rigorous qualitative and quantitative due diligence, conviction-weighted allocations, and operational reviews.
- Implementation & trading: transition management, tax- and cost-aware execution, and cash/liquidity oversight.
- Ongoing monitoring: performance attribution, risk analytics, rebalancing policy, and documented decision logs tied to the IPS.
Implementation
Before making any investment decisions, we work with our clients to understand their needs and goals. Through this process, we develop an IPS to ensure expectations are aligned and responsibilities identified. Once this process is completed, we can construct a portfolio. Our portfolios consist mostly of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) due to the nature of our approach. ETFs provide an inexpensive and effective way to capture the return of an entire asset class and reduce the risk of underperforming the benchmark. We will invest in a mutual fund or other investment type if it offers a more appropriate means of exposure in a particular asset class. Tactical and risk overlays are applied when warranted to protect capital and enhance long-term, risk-adjusted returns.
Manager Due Diligence & Risk Oversight
Our manager oversight combines quantitative screening, qualitative interviews, operational checks, and continuous performance and risk monitoring. We document decisions, trigger objective replacement criteria, and maintain a clear audit trail to support fiduciary governance and committee review.
Reporting, Governance Support & Client Partnership
We deliver transparent reporting — performance vs. benchmarks, attribution, risk metrics, and fee analysis — plus committee-ready presentations and annual IPS reviews. We partner with boards and finance teams to translate investment results into governance actions, policy updates, and spending or liability management advice.
Transparent Fees
We believe transparency is essential to trust. As a fee-only fiduciary, our compensation is clearly disclosed and structured to align with the services we provide.
